Soprano Sanna Heikkinen graduated from Conservatory of Kuopio in 2002. There she studied at the Department of Music Pedagogy and her main subject was singing. In 2003 she continued her studies at Sibelius Academy in the Opera Class of the Department of the Vocal Music, from where she graduated with Master's degree in May 2009 having received excellent grades from her diploma concert.

 

During her studies at Sibelius Academy, she has taken voice lessons from operasinger Ritva Auvinen. She has also studied opera with prof., conductor Markus Lehtinen. She has worked with opera coaches Rilla Kyykkä, Tuula-Marja Tuomela-Nyman, Liisa Pimiä, Kristian Attila and Harri Karri.

Sanna Heikkinen has attended in Master Classes of Matti Salminen, Udo Reinemann, Wilma Venocchi, Ryszard Karczykowski, Stefano Algieri, Tom Krause and Susanna Eken. She has recieved lieder teaching from the pianists Collin Hansen, Ilmo Ranta and Rudolf Jansen.

Sanna Heikkinen has sung as a soloist for example in Vivaldis Gloria and Mozarts Requiem and given several resitals and concerts with pianist Johanna Tilus. Tilus and Heikkinen have performed in Finland and also on Germany and Ireland. Heikkinen has sung the following opera roles; Elli (Kuusisto: Miehen kylkiluu), Donna Anna (Mozart: Don Giovanni) and Elisetta (Cimarosa: Il matrimonio segreto) at the Sibelius-Academy. In 2006 she sang role of Hodel in The fiddler on the roofmusical. Her other roles includes for example Madeline in P. Glass’s The Fall of the House of Usher and Conception in M. Ravel’s L’heure espagnole. She is also the member of operaimprovisation group Improah! Enclosed as a performing artist she is working as a singing teacher.
